Alton Physical Therapy Services & Capabilities
Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic therapy uses the natural resistance and buoyancy of water to help improve strength, flexibility, balance, and mobility while reducing stress on joints and muscles. It is an effective treatment option for patients recovering from surgery, injuries, chronic pain, arthritis, and other physical conditions.
BBPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo)
BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) is a common inner ear condition that causes brief episodes of dizziness or a spinning sensation with changes in head position. Physical therapy treatments, including specialized repositioning maneuvers and vestibular therapy, can help reduce symptoms, improve balance, and restore normal daily function.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a specialized treatment technique used by physical therapists to relieve muscle pain, tension, and tightness by targeting trigger points with thin, sterile needles. It can help improve mobility, reduce inflammation, decrease pain, and support faster recovery from injuries and chronic muscle conditions.
Forcedecks (VALD)
ForceDecks (VALD) is an advanced performance and rehabilitation testing system that uses force plate technology to measure strength, balance, power, movement, and asymmetries with precise real-time data. At Alton Physical Therapy, ForceDecks helps therapists create personalized treatment plans, track recovery progress, reduce injury risk, and improve return-to-play decisions for athletes and patients recovering from surgery or injury.
Geriatric Therapy
Geriatric therapy focuses on helping older adults improve strength, balance, mobility, and overall function to maintain independence and quality of life. Physical therapy for seniors can help reduce fall risk, manage arthritis and chronic pain, improve recovery after surgery or illness, and support safer everyday movement and activities.
GrastonĀ® Technique
The Graston Technique is a specialized form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) that uses stainless steel tools to help detect and treat areas of scar tissue, muscle tightness, and soft tissue restrictions. This technique can help reduce pain, improve mobility and flexibility, enhance circulation, and support faster recovery from injuries and chronic conditions.
Lymphedema (Fluid Retention)
Lymphedema therapy is a specialized treatment designed to reduce swelling caused by a buildup of lymphatic fluid, often occurring after surgery, cancer treatment, or lymph node removal. Physical therapy for lymphedema may include manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, exercise, and education to help improve circulation, reduce discomfort, and restore function and quality of life.
Neurologic Therapy
Neurologic therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy designed to help individuals improve movement, balance, coordination, strength, and function after neurological conditions or injuries. It can benefit patients recovering from stroke, Parkinsonās disease, multiple sclerosis, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and other neurologic disorders by promoting independence and improving quality of life.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy helps individuals develop, recover, or improve the skills needed for daily living, work, and independent activities after injury, illness, or disability. Treatment may focus on improving fine motor skills, coordination, strength, cognitive function, and adapting tasks or environments to help patients safely and confidently perform everyday activities.
Orthopedic Therapy
Orthopedic therapy focuses on the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions affecting the muscles, joints, bones, ligaments, and tendons. Physical therapy can help reduce pain, restore mobility, improve strength and flexibility, and support recovery from injuries, surgery, arthritis, fractures, and other orthopedic conditions.
Pre / Post Operative Care
Pre- and post-operative physical therapy helps patients prepare for surgery and recover safely afterward by improving strength, mobility, flexibility, and overall function. Customized therapy programs can help reduce pain, speed recovery, improve surgical outcomes, and support a safe return to daily activities following orthopedic and other surgical procedures.
Pediatrics
Pediatric therapy helps children improve strength, coordination, balance, mobility, and developmental skills needed for everyday activities and growth. Physical and occupational therapy for children can support recovery from injuries, developmental delays, neurological conditions, orthopedic concerns, and other physical challenges in a fun, supportive environment.
Sports Training & Performance Rehabilitation
Sports Training & Performance Rehab focuses on helping athletes improve strength, speed, mobility, balance, and overall athletic performance while reducing the risk of injury. Through personalized training programs, injury prevention strategies, advanced performance testing, and sport-specific rehabilitation, athletes can safely recover, return to play, and perform at their highest level.
TMJ Disorder
TMJ disorder therapy focuses on relieving pain and improving function in the temporomandibular joint, which connects the jaw to the skull. Physical therapy treatment may include manual therapy, stretching, posture correction, strengthening exercises, and pain management techniques to help reduce jaw pain, headaches, clicking, stiffness, and difficulty chewing or speaking.
Work Injuries
Work injury rehabilitation focuses on helping individuals safely recover from job-related injuries and return to work as quickly and safely as possible. Physical therapy treatment may include pain management, strength and mobility training, functional movement exercises, and injury prevention education to restore function and support long-term recovery.
